New selection of bookplates (also known as ex-librīs, Latin, "from the books of..."), those small print or decorative labels pasted into a book, often on the inside front cover, to indicate its owner, containing the name of the copy owner or the owning library.
The bookplates are usually prints made with different techniques (list of thechniques and symbols here), and there are many artists who are specialists in these images generally allegorical or related to the profession, activity, guild or hobbies of the owner. There are also many with erotic content, "macabre" theme (with skeletons or skulls alluding to the passage of time and death), monograms, etc. They are also frequent motifs related to the world of books and libraries.
