Cinco años... / Five Years...

Javier Fuentes.

Five years online and the blog continues in good health. Almost reaching two million page views, I can only thank all those who delight in the material and information presented periodically, comment, correct, applaud or criticize. The shared enjoyment with readers and lookers of the product is what pays the hours dedicated to the contextualization and dissemination of artistic images and texts relating to creators, the sole purpose of this personal proposal.

Also the corresponding acknowledgments to Olga Cabrinety and Mafa Alborés, who always have the kindness to think of me and this publication providing information and / or material of interest, and of course to Shirley Rebuffo, habitual collaborator, unrepentant suggestor and since very little redactor / compiler of one of the ongoing series, which we hope will have a long tour because there is much and very good to develop there.

But as always, the main focus of attention falls on the artists, who are the depositors of the talent and effort that unfolds in each of the works whose vision we share here, and which kindly collaborate allowing me to publish, contributing with texts and images, dedicating part of his valuable time to open, to those who enjoy with the fruit of his talents, a small slit through which to look at aspects of their creative lives. Nor do I want to leave aside the online galleries, museums, representatives and other diverse sources that lend themselves kindly and unselfishly to swell the blog collection.

The dissemination of culture, in this case in the form of writings and reproductions of works, is something worthwhile. That is at least the driving-force beneath my activity, which justifies a work that may be considered unusual by those who do not understand dedication without remuneration in cash. "How much time do you spend on this?" I have been asked more than once. "More than I confess," I usually respond. And that time is life, like all time spent on anything. And it must have a value, which is surely not assessed because it does not "produce" in economic terms, but it generates another kind of satisfactions of difficult explanation in an era of superlative materialism. I would like my activity to generate the necessary to not have to devote so much vital time wasted in "real work", to change it for money to make a living, but as the brilliant Quino put it in the mouth of his character Mafalda: "What is necessary does not leave time for what is important." At least I try a kind of balance that allows me not to abandon the latter by the pressure of the first. And I hope it lasts.

Let's go for a new year rummaging around the net, chewing and digesting beauty in the form of digital representations of human creativity, to regurgitate them - I hope enriched by my own filter - in this virtual, free access, open museum.
Happy New Year to everyone.
Javier Fuentes.
