On December 8 is the birthday of

Mike Ruiz, Canadian-born (1964) photographer, director, television personality, former model, spokesperson, creative director, and actor. After a short time in the cinema and 10 years modeling in the United States, at age 28 began in the field of photography.
Currently residing in New York, Ruiz is renowned for its high-impact images with surreal touches of celebrities and fashion photography. He is a founding partner of Miauhaus Studios, a photographic complex in Los Angeles with 4 studios.
His work was features in numerous US and international magazines such as Vanity Fair, Flaunt, Condé Nast Traveler, Interview, Paper, Citizen K, Dazed and Confused, Arena, Italian Elle, the Spanish and Brazilian editions of Vogue and was a contributor to the book Dolce & Gabbana's Hollywood book and the book of beauty Iman's The beauty of Color

Louis Arthur Ducos du Hauron, French pioneer of color photography born in 1837.
After writing an unpublished paper setting forth his basic concepts in 1862, he worked on developing practical processes for color photography on the three-color principle, using both additive and subtractive methods. In 1868 he patented his ideas and in 1869 he published them in Les couleurs en photographie, solution du problème. The discovery of dye sensitization by Hermann Wilhelm Vogel in 1873 greatly facilitated the initial three-color analysis on which all of Ducos de Hauron's methods depended.
The most widely reproduced of his surviving color photographs is the View of Agen, an 1877 image of a landscape in southern France, printed by the subtractive assembly method he pioneered. Several different photographs of the view from his attic window, one dated 1874, also survive, as do later views taken in Algeria, still life subjects, reproductions of paintings and art prints, and at least two portraits of uncertain date.
In 1891, he introduced the anaglyph stereoscopic print, the "red and blue glasses" type of 3-D print. Although others had earlier applied the same principle to drawings or used it to project images onto a screen, he was the first to reproduce stereoscopic photographs in the convenient form of anaglyph prints on paper.
He died in 1920.

On December 9 is the birthday of

Aaron Huey, photojournalist and documentary photographer born in 1975, known for his crossing of the United States in 2002 and his work on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. He grew up in Worland, Wyoming, and graduated from Worland High School. He earned a BA from the University of Denver, Colorado, in 1999.
In 2002, along with his dog, he traveled 3349 miles without media coverage, documenting with his camera the sites and lives of people throughout the trip.
His extensive work on poverty in which indigenous people live in the Pine Ridge Reservation achieved wide recognition.
His works often appear in Harper's Magazine, National Geographic, The New Yorker, The New York Times, and Smithsonian, among other media.

Roy DeCarava, American artist born in 1919.
DeCarava produced five major books, including The Sound I Saw and The Sweet Flypaper of Life as well as landmark museum catalogs and retrospective surveys from the Friends of Photography and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The subject of at least 15 single artist exhibitions, DeCarava was the first African American photographer to win a Guggenheim Fellowship and in 2006, he was awarded the National Medal of Arts from the National Endowment for the Arts, the highest award given to artists by the United States Government.
He died in 2009.

On December 10 is the birthday of

Benjamin West Kilburn, photographer and publicist of stereographs born in 1827, famous for his landscapes of nascent state and provincial National Parks in the United States and Canada, and its visual record of the great migrations of the late nineteenth century. It was a visual historian of immigration and international tourism.
His first stereoscopic views were produced in the Edward Kilburn Studio in Littleton. The place was too small for his popularity. About 1868 a major business Chutter Block was built. After a fire in Boston in 1872, a new factory was built in Cottage Street. It soon became the largest manufacture of stereoscopic views. Benjamin died in 1909.

Shūji Terayama (寺山修司), avant-garde Japanese poet, dramatist, writer, film director, and photographer born in 1935. According to many critics and supporters, he was one of the most productive and provocative creative artists to come out of Japan.

He was also involved in poetry and at 18 was the second winner of the Tanka Studies Award.
Terayama published almost 200 literary works, and over 20 short and full-length films.
He died in 1983.

On December 11 is the birthday of

She has also dabbled in poetry, film and animation, and a participant in the so-called Group 8, an art collective that also includes Paz Errazuriz, Alexis Diaz, Claudio Pérez, Miguel Navarro, Javier Godoy, Álvaro Hoppe and Alexander Wagner.
She studied social sciences at the Sorbonne University, photography at the School of Art Photo of Chile in Santiago and audiovisual and multimedia production at the Ecole Supérieure d'Etudes of Réalisation Audiovisuelle in Paris.
Her work takes as its inspiration the popular culture of Chile and France, which rescues "Scenes of the Santiago bohemia in the seventies and eighties, the dark and decadent world of bars and urban images of Paris"; she has also addressed the intercultural field since feminine.

Nikki Sixx, American musician, songwriter, radio host, and photographer born in 1958, best known as the co-founder, bassist, and primary songwriter of the band Mötley Crüe. In 2000 he formed side project group 58 with Dave Darling, Steve Gibb and Bucket Baker issuing one album, titled Diet for a New America, the same year while in 2002 he formed the hard rock supergroup Brides of Destruction with L.A. Guns guitarist Tracii Guns. He was self-taught on photography and in 1924 opened his first studio in Tokyo. In 1929 he traveled in a zeppelin to an air report from Japan. Appearing on the market the Leica camera got the right tool for documentary photography he wanted; so he began collaborating in various magazines.
He was interested in the European avant-garde and especially for Film und Foto exhibition held in Tokyo and Osaka in 1931; this influence led to the magazine Koga who collected his works alongside those of Yasuzo Nojima, Iwata Nakayama and Nobuo Ina. In 1934 he founded a press agency called Nippon-Kobo and a few months after another with the name of Chuo-Kobo. In 1937 he presented a mural at the Universal Exhibition in Paris with photographers Kiyoshi Koishi, Himoru Hara and Yoshio Watanabe. After the war he founded the Bunka-Sha Publishing. He is considered along with Hiroshi Hamaya and Ken Domon as one of the leading documentary photographers of the twentieth century in Japan. He died in 1974.

Tom Kelley Sr., American photographer born in 1914 who photographed Hollywood celebrities in the 1940s and 1950s. He is best known for his iconic 1949 nude photographs of Marilyn Monroe, which were distributed widely as calendar art—one of which was featured in the inaugural issue of Playboy magazine in 1953.
He learned photography as an apprentice in a New York photo studio, and then worked for the Associated Press and Town & Country magazine. After coming to California in 1935, Kelley established a photography studio in Hollywood and produced promotional photographs of motion picture stars. David O.
