In 1909, Zarraga sent two paintings to the exhibition in Rome, the Allegory of Autumn (now in the National Museum of Art) and The Naked Ballerina at the time acquired by the Museum of Oran and today graces the Blaisten collection. The Italian critic Rodolfo Panichi the called the second painting as "truly remarkable for the sobriety of color and the overall intonation and vigor of modeling." And described it as "a girl wearing only a black Spanish veil over her head moves on a terrace with mild dance step, with a kind of compound and hieratic attitude that gives the figure a sense of chastity, despite the nudity ...; almost gives the impression of a serious Byzantine priestly figure. The clothes and blanket are set with harmony of tones on the parapet of the terrace that opens to the field; right, a woman, with design and admirable poise, between indifferent and angry, waiting sitting, peering however mockingly of accustomed enjoyer, the effect produced on the spectator." And characterized the execution of the work as "voluntarily cold and punished."Adding to an open and bright landscape of contrasting figures (dressed and naked, young and old), and ritual character that gives them, are a brand of  Zárraga creations in those years. Is very possible this painting is related to La femme et le Pantin, also signed in 1909 and which share the same source of literary inspiration.
