Johannes Wessmark


Johannes Wessmark es un artista sueco nacido en 1962 en Karlstad.
De formación autodidacta, trabajó más de 15 años como ilustrador, dedicado a una obra de innegable calidad técnica, centrada en la representación fotorrealista. 
Ha presentado sus creaciones en un gran número de muestras individuales y colectivas en Noruega, Dinamarca y Estados Unidos.
Ha publicado un libro (primera edición en sueco) "Johannes Wessmark - photorealist", con reproducciones de 90 de sus obras e imágenes de su proceso creativo.

Sus pinturas tratan una amplia variedad de temas que van desde la mujer, la naturaleza, paisajes, coches y bodegones finamente ejecutados, utilizando acrílicos, témpera, acuarela y lápiz de color.
«No tengo un tema favorito, pero las mujeres y la naturaleza son siempre divertidas e inspiradoras.
Los lápices de color siempre han sido mi herramienta preferida, aunque he pintado muchas acuarelas y también con aerógrafo a través de los años. Mi primera pintura con modelo "Emmy descansando" es un buen ejemplo de la mezcla entre témpera al aerógrafo y lápices de color.»

Dibujar y pintar en un estilo fotorrealista demanda una gran cantidad de paciencia... y Johannes la tiene.
«No me aburre en absoluto. Trabajaré sobre una pintura hasta que considere que estoy satisfecho, incluso si me insume varias semanas.»

Johannes Wessmark is a Swedish artist born in 1962 in Karlstad. 
Self-taught, has worked more than 15 years as an illustrator, dedicated to a work of undeniable technical quality, focused on photorealistic rendering. 
He has showed his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Norway, Denmark and the United States. 
He has published a book (first edition in Swedish) "Johannes Wessmark - photorealist" with reproductions of 90 of his works and images of his creative process.

His paintings shows a wide variety of subjects ranging from women, nature, landscapes, cars and still lifes finely executed, using acrylic, gouache, watercolor and colored pencils.
«I have no favorite subject. But women, and nature is always fun and inspiring.
The colored pencils have always been my favorite tool, although I have painted many watercolors and air-brush paintings through the years. My first model-painting "Emmy resting" is a good example of the mix between air-brushed gouache and colored pencils.»

"Alineados / In Line"

Drawing and painting in a photorealistic style demands a huge amount of patience... and Johannes has it.
«It doesn’t bother me at all. I will keep on working with a painting until I am satisfied even if it takes several weeks.»

Ralph Goings es un pintor estadounidense nacido en 1928 en California, estrechamente asociado con el movimiento fotorrealista de fines de los '60 y principios de los '70. Es reconocido por sus extremadamente detalladas pinturas de hamburguesas, camiones y bancos retratados de una manera deliberadamente objetiva.
Comenzó a pintar, animado por su tío, que le regaló libros y material educativo. En los años posteriores a la Gran Depresión, por la escasez de materiales, pintaba sobre viejas sábanas usadas a falta de lienzo. Estudió en el Colegio de Artes de California junto a otros maestros del fotorrealismo como Robert Bechtle y Richard Mclean. Recibió un Master en Bellas Artes por el Sacramento State College en 1965. Su trabajo se encuentra en varios museos y destacadas galerías de arte.

Ralph Goings, is an American painter born in 1928 in California, closely associated with the Photorealism movement of the late 1960s and early 1970s. He is best known for his highly detailed paintings of hamburger stands, pick-up trucks, and California banks, portrayed in a deliberately objective manner.
He was encouraged by his aunt growing up to pursue drawing, as she bought him books and instructional materials. As he began painting in his earlier years, he used materials such as paint from the local hardware store and used old bed sheets when canvas was unavailable.
During his studies at California College of the Arts, he studied along other painters from the Photo Realist Movement including Robert Bechtle and Richard Mclean as well as other artists including Nathan Oliveira He received his MFA in painting from Sacramento State College in 1965.
His work can be found in many museums and art galleries.
