Daria Endresen [Arte digital]

Daria Endresen

Daria Endresen por / by Samah Gouaiti

"Liberar II / To Release II" Modelo / Model: Auda (Eisamkeit) Sine, 2013

"Todo está lleno de amor / All Is Full Of Love", con / with Guro Storksjaer, 2011

Daria Endresen is a young self-taught photographer, digital artist and model born and based in Norway (Oslo).
She started photographing landscapes with a DSLR given by her father, but then she focused in self portraits that nowadays represents the main body of her work.

«All of my work is very personal. I'm usually trying to tell my own stories, kind of stories of my life, but at the same time I hope that people who look at my works they can make their own stories.
Photographs are the basis of my work but I spend a lot of time in front of the screen editing on Photoshop, so that's what I think I'm much more a digital artist than a photographer.»

"Frida und Die Schmetterlinge / Frida y las mariposas / Frida and the Butterflies", 2009

This work is inspired in "The Two Fridas" by Frida Kahlo, previously posted here.

"Tristesse / Tristeza / Sadness" (2011)

«It is strangely empowering to know you have the ability to communicate visually. I’d never experienced this before. But it also made me feel more vulnerable. When you use yourself as subject matter, this is inevitable, I think.»

«Is really difficult for me to speak about my work because I think most of it happens on a subconscious level. (...) I usually take quite some time before my ideas completely formed and I can start shooting.»

"Mi amante se irá / My Lover Will Go", 2008

"Las que desaparecieron / Those Who Disappeared" (2009)

«Opening up was never easy. I remember experiencing an overwhelming feeling of fear the first time I published a nude self-portrait. However, the outer nakedness is something I stopped caring about rather quickly; showing everyone what’s inside of me is much more difficult. It leaves you bare and visible to anyone. At the same time I would like my viewers to perceive these stories as their own, to see and recognize themselves.»

"Ruptura / Severance", 2011

«Music is my biggest inspiration. I can listen a very different stuff, from black metal and doom to trip-hop, dub-step, things like that, and for me the very important part is not just the music but the lyrics as well. I find some of them very inspiring and actually lots of my pictures are inspired by lyrics.
And of course I'm very inspired by artists. Digital art, of course. Right now with Internet there are a lot of sites like deviantART where you can find a lot of really cool stuff to look at and to get inspired by. Painters of course. I'm a huge fan of old flemmish painters. My most favourite one could be Hans Memling. Also I like quite lot of female artists like Frida Kahlo from painters, or if we take photography Francesca Woodman who is quite famous for her self-portraiture as well.» [check out at the end of this post]

Francesca Woodman

Francesca Woodman was an American photographer born in 1958, best known for her black and white pictures featuring herself and female models.
She began high school in 1972 at the private Massachusetts boarding school Abbot Academy, where she began to develop her photographic skills and became interested in the art form.
Many of her photographs show young women who are nude, blurred (due to movement and long exposure times), merging with their surroundings, or whose faces are obscured. In late 1980 Woodman became depressed due to the failure of her work to attract attention and to a broken relationship. She survived a suicide attempt, after which she lived with her parents in Manhattan.
Her work continues to be the subject of much critical acclaim and attention, years after she committed suicide at the age of 22.
