"Mythology tells us that Danae was the sole daughter of Acrisius of Argos. An oracle had told Acrisius that one day Danae's son would kill him. So terrified was he by this prediction that he locked up his young daughter, Danae, in a tower. But Zeus had already seen her and was enamored with the beautiful maiden. By disguising himself as a shower of gold, he was able to enter her chamber several times. The drawing depicts Danae waiting for Zeus, her lover and the father of her son."

"The collectors are creatures that find things of extraordinary interest and beauty," says artist Michael Parkes. "But what is so special about a strawberry, an egg or a frog, you might ask? Just look at these things, don't think about them, just look. The collectors know a secret about these objects they can stop time! Past and future do not exist; only this moment has reality. The collectors show a way for us to stop the grinding thoughts of our mind and simply be with a timeless flower, seahorse, or hummingbird. Every person has at least one object that will stop time for them. What is yours?"

Many artists through the ages have attempted to interpret the allegorical subject of the four seasons. Here are my first two seasons and eventually I will get around to summer and autumn. While I was doing these, Vivaldi's Four Seasons was being played continually at the print shop in Switzerland. I wanted to try working on a long format for a change and tried to maximize its strong graphic imagery using bold shapes that really stand out.
