From 1897 he began publishing in various Czech magazines, and 1902 saw the release of his first book of fairy tale illustrations. His linear black and white drawings in the stylization of his brilliant Art Nouveau gained popularity and new commissions. Illustrated children fairytales by B. Nemcova, KJ Erben, Hans Christian Andersen and others. Also epic poems of Julius Zeyer "Vyšehrad" with fantasy paintings, but also subtle eroticism. These books were published in the costly and high-quality graphic design. However, drew a number of serial images in small books, but always illustrated with great, honestly and gracefully images.
