"Rancho y silla / Shack and Chair", óleo sobre cartón / oil on cardboard

«Most of the things I do, I do on impulse of inspiration, cooking, washing the dishes, playing with the kids, painting. For everything I have to be inspired, otherwise I don't do it.
My paintings arise mostly from some memory, some talk, some anecdote, some photo. Something that stays in my head for a long time and suddenly a picture explodes in my mind and at that moment I have to throw myself against the cardboard and do it, draw it.»

"Ta matete", óleo sobre lienzo / oil on canvas [Según / After Gauguin, ver más abajo / see below]

«Love starts when I put the first colors, when I create the first images... It's a similar impulse to meet a new girlfriend, all romance and love, are good days of sunshine.
Then... the tedium of having to finish the picture, the romance is lost, the affection, the thing begins to complicate, they are leaving less free spaces, the condition of the colors, the not knowing that color to put, to put it and to see that it does not remain well, that it does not have the grace that it had when it starts the relation, that I do not like, that in the end what I paint for... But overcoming the bitterness, the daily struggle body to body, in the end the painting is finished, we look at each other, he is no longer the one I wanted when I start everything, we change him and I, I always think that he is the last one, that I will never be able to paint again.
Then comes the period between paintings (a period that my wife hates, because I'm angry, bitter, upset) until suddenly one morning, I jump out of bed before dawn and I'm painting again.»

"La locura de mi sueño / The Craziness of My Dream", óleo sobre lienzo / oil on canvas, 100 x 100 cm.

«Why am I doing this? I have no idea.
Maybe it's for the same reason humans drew in caves.»
